Meet our family before you meet our brand

Our story starts with my mom, Lilian. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro and living in the city until today, Brazil, she has worked in clothing manufacturing and retail in our city for over 40 years, alongside my father, Jorge. Although there were many ups and downs in their long trajectory, one thing always remained: the passion to create.

A little about me: I'm Gabriella Zacche, also born and raised in Rio, but moved to New York about 9 years ago. As our life has always been tough and there was often no one to look after me, I ended up spending a lot of time growing up with my parents in their clothing atelier, playing with fabrics and dress-up while they worked, sparking my passion for fashion from a young age.

After moving to New York, I went to FIT for my Master's degree and became a full-time content creator in 2018, which I always loved to do. However, there was always a latent desire to create something concrete. Something physical that represented my style and my Brazilian DNA.

In addition to that, in talks with my parents, we always talked about how Brazil is so under represented in fashion internationally and how important this industry is for the local communities and workers. That's how the spark to create KNYT STUDIOS started.

Now meet Knyt Studios

During the peak COVID pandemic in 2020, I started to sketch and design what I wanted to be our first drop while my mom helped me in the production side in Brazil. Due to all the logistical challenges present at that time, we had to postpone our dream to a later date, but that also was what directed us towards sourcing the dead stock materials we worked with for some of our pieces.

In September 2022, we felt that the 'later date' had come and we could finally resume our plans.

At our core, we are a family business that values quality, transparency, and authenticity. Our NY team works closely with my parents, Lilian and Jorge, and their team in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to ensure that every piece of clothing is made with care and attention to detail and quality.

By working with local artisans and seamstresses who set their own rates and terms, and using dead stock and sustainable fabrics to create timeless classic pieces that transcend trends, we are able to create beautiful clothing that is both socially responsible and sustainable.

We wanted to create something more than just a fashion brand – we want to be a community of women who share a love for fashion and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Join us on our journey, and experience the beauty of fashion that is both stylish and sustainable.
